The Antonuis Wilhelm Amo Afer Family Foundation (AWAAFF) offers a range of internship programs tailored for international students seeking professional education opportunities in Ghana. These programs are designed to provide practical experience, cultural immersion, and personal development. 

Who Can Participate ?

Eligibility: International students currently enrolled in Secondary Vocational Studies. 

Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English and basic understanding of the English language for communication, writing of reports, projects and official letter is required.

Internship Placement

Participants will be placed in various local Awaaff community projects based on their field of study and interests.

Budget Program Fees

A nominal fee is charged to cover administrative costs, ranging from $300 to $500 depending on the duration of the internship.
Accommodation:
Accommodation fee will depend on student’s preference and budget. Options will be communicated to students for consideration.
Additional Costs:
Participants should budget for personal expenses, including food, transportation, and entertainment.

Flight, Travel, and Visa Information

Participants are responsible for booking their flights to Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, Ghana.
Visa Requirements: A tourist or student visa is required. AWAAFF will assist with the necessary invitation letter for the visa application(s).

Types of Internships Education

Teaching assistant positions in local schools.

Internships in local clinics or health education programs.

Projects focused on conservation and sustainability.

Work with Awaaff on various community-based initiatives

Duration of Summer Internships

Typically 8–12 weeks, from June to August. Winter Internships: Typically 4–8 weeks, from December to January.

Health Protection Insurance:

All participants must have valid health insurance covering their stay in Ghana. Vaccinations: Recommended vaccinations include Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever. Participants should consult their healthcare provider.

Transportation

Participants will have access to local transport options, including taxis, buses, and motorbikes. AWAAFF will provide affordable transportation for organized activities.

Night Life

Axim offers vibrant local nightlife with bars and music venues featuring traditional Ghanaian music. Entertainment Options: Cultural events, music festivals, and local markets.

Tourism

Opportunities for hiking, beach activities, and exploring local wildlife. Tourism: Visits to nearby attractions such as Fort Saint Anthony, Nzulezo (the stilt village), and local beaches and others.

Participants can explore the beautiful coastal scenery, lush forests, and wildlife in the surrounding areas.

Cost Estimated

Including program fees, housing, food, transportation, and personal expenses, participants should budget approximately $3,000 to $5,500 for the duration of their stay.
